The Meta Analysis on the Built Environment's Influence on the Physical Activity of the Elderly

  • Based on the database of EBSCOhost, etc., the study collected the research on the relationships between the built environment and leisure-time physical activity of the elderly.Using the Combie bias risk assessment tools, the results show that the factors of the built environment can improve the amount of leisure-time physical activity of the old people, which are followed by traffic safety, destination accessibility, environment safety, aesthetic perception, park green space, residential density and land-use mix.Meanwhile, street connectivity and pavement quality are not core key factors to the leisure-time physical activity of the old people. It is suggested that government should improve the beneficial factors of city built environment to promote the physical activity of the elderly people, which will improve their health level.
