Classification and Grading Protection of Sports Data: Concepts, Issues, and Pathway

  • The classification and grading protection of sports data, characteristic of inclusive and complex, helps accelerate sports digital economy, improve precise sports training, advance its maximum circulation and better guarantee diverse sports data. Based on the classification criteria of different generating entities, sports data primarily falls into four categories: athlete data, citizen sports data, sports enterprise data, and public sports data. The current state of sports data protection shows a mixed nature, leading to the intersection of general and sensitive sports data for citizens, as well as the amalgamation of data property rights for athletes, citizens, and public sports. Sports data classification and grading protection criteria can be guided by public interest trade-offs, levels of sensitive content, and emerging data property rights. Furthermore, an accurate approach can be achieved around grading standards that consider significant personal and property safety risks associated with general and specific sports scenarios.
