Spatial Transformation: The Rediscovery of the Social Function of Sport

  • Public discussions of sport often highlight its contribution to health and fitness, describing it mainly as a way to improve body and individual well-being. This view, while important, reflects sport's role by individuals rather than sport's social function. The theory of social transformation focuses more on decisive and key transformation structure, but less on the significance of function and spatial transformation on social transformation. In the practical experience of sport space production, space transformation and space integration, not only new functions of sports at the social level are discovered, but also the promoting role of sport's participation are found in space transformation on social transformation and its transformation mechanism. The physical space, symbolic space and public space relied on by sports can be transformed into new economic and social space through construction mechanism and functional transformation, driving the upgrading and transformation of economy and society through space transformation. Under the background of promoting high-quality development and the digital age, to effectively play the social functions of sport space transformation, it is still necessary to eliminate the tensions and obstacles in the construction and integration in specific practices, and strive to promote space integration more effectively in institutional innovation and cultural construction.
