Abstract:
This study reviewed the ongoing reforms of national sports associations and summarized the three modes of reforms in China, i.e.football association reform, pilot reform of the non-Olympic sports reforms as part of the reforms of national associations and business councils led by the State Council, as well as the reform of the Olympic sports associations within China General Sports Administration. It is revealed that these reforms face significant challenges including the lack of strategic reform master plan, lack of guidance and assistance from the sports authorities, inter-departmental coordination difficulties, lack of grassroots foundation and authority, as well as the individualized issues arising from the various reform modes.Countermeasures and suggestions were hence proposed.
