Abstract:
Dried blood spot (DBS) technology, as an alternative method of blood collection, has been widely used in neonatal screening and other clinical or pharmaceutical research fields.DBS has also drawn some attention in the field of anti-doping recently. For the purpose of examining the potential advantage in blood collection, transportation and storage, the current research development of DBS in doping detection, the 10-year literature data are summarized. It finds that the DBS simplifies sample collection, storage and transportation. And it needs a smaller blood volume with minor hurt only, which offers a number of advantages over conventional blood sampling. The combined application of DBS and LC-MS technology also shows advantages in the detection of various prohibited substances. In addition, the difficulties and potential application of DBS in the field of anti-doping are also discussed, trying to provide references for its further prospect.
