Abstract:
Facing the existing problems and reform demands in the development of the Olympic movement, IOC has taken a series of measures to promote sustainable development and become a model as such in the current global sports. The IOC's sustainability promotion can be divided into four stages: initial, establishment, continuous and reform. Especially for the future of 2030 and beyond, IOC has ensured the implementation of sustainable development with a long-term strategy and implementation framework. The IOC's promotion practices include the changes from passive response to active innovation, a comprehensive system and mechanism out of singleness, and a specific pathway from top-level design to practical implementation. The implications to promote the Olympic sustainable development in China are as follows: ① strengthen the development strategy linkage to form joint forces with the legacy from Beijing "Double Olympics"; ② explore the specific Chinese highlights and strengthen mutual exchange; ③ improve the supportive role to help the collaboration of various sports; ④ build a co-construction and co-governance system to improve the governance capacity and level.
