Abstract:
Based on the "triple bottom line" principle of sustainable development, a strategic framework of leveraging urban sport tourism events is constructed to maximize the positive impact of sport tourism events and reduce or avoid their negative impact. In order to promote the sustainable development of sport tourism, it is suggested that urban destinations should make important strategic plan for sport events in advance, design an effective sports tourism events portfolio combined with urban characteristics, establish the urban ecological sport tourism certification system, actively develop the urban sport heritage to give full play to the post-event leverage effect, build urban sport tourism event network governance mechanism, and finally integrate sport tourism events as "seed capital" into the overall urban development strategy. In this way the economic, social and environmental leverage effects of urban sport tourism events will thus be realized.
