Abstract:
Quantitative research is key in advancing the scientific development of the sociology of sport. Its objectivity, precision, and reproducibility are instrumental in deepening our understanding of sport phenomena, validating theoretical hypotheses and stimulating theoretical breakthroughs. Currently, quantitative research in the sociology of sport in China is thriving, yet problems and challenges still exist. Guided by the "theory-oriented empirical research" perspective, three core elements are proposed to address these problems: problem awareness, theoretical exploration, and empirical verification. In the context of a digital society, researchers must actively utilize new data, technologies, and methodologies to empower theoretical advancement, reveal new causal mechanisms, and foster new research paradigms.
