Abstract:
Digital technique is the key force and important embodiment of new productivity to empower public sports service. Based on the data from 2014 to 2020 across 30 China provinces (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and Xizang), a two-way fixed effects model and a dynamic threshold regression model are employed to empirically examine the relationship among the digital technique, government governance ability and the development of public sports service. It is found that, from direct effect verification, the digital technique has a significantly positive effect on the development of public sports service, and the conclusion is still valid after taking endogenous variables and robustness tests into account. And the threshold effect shows that the digital technique significantly and positively promotes public sports service with marginal diminishing effect. Additionally, from a regional perspective, the digital technique has a more pronounced promoting effect on public sports service development in the western regions compared to the other regions. The verification of intermediary effect shows that improving government governance capability is an important mechanism for the influence of digital technique on the development of public sports service. Feasible suggestions are hence proposed for promoting the deep integration of the digital technique and public sports service, and advancing the high-quality development of public sports service across different regions of China.
