Abstract: Based on the panel data from 28 provinces in China from 2011 to 2022, this study uses a two-way fixed-effects model to empirically analyze the impact and mechanism of new quality productive forces on the high-quality development of the sports industry. The research findings indicate that the new quality productive force has a significant positive effect on promoting the high-quality development of the sports industry, a conclusion that remains valid even after considering endogenous variables and robustness tests. Regarding the mechanism, cultivating and developing new quality productive forces can effectively enhance the activity level of the technology transaction market, facilitating the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the sports field, thus promoting the total factor productivity in the sports industry. For heterogeneity analysis, the promoting effect of new quality productive forces on the high-quality development of the sports industry is more pronounced in regions with a lower level of industrial structure upgrading and a better business environment. Exploring the relationship between new quality productive forces and the sports industry is of great value for shaping new impetus for the development of the sports industry and promoting its high-quality development.
