Abstract: Literature review, interview, observation and case analysis are used to sort out the development process of CBA competition system for the purpose of fully grasping its reform course and promoting its high-quality development in the new era since its establishment 30 years ago. It is found that the changes in regular seasons of CBA competition system are mainly reflected in the situation of competition division, weekly competition field, weekly competition day arrangement, whether promotion or relegation, and how to group. And the playoffs are mainly reflected in the number of teams entering the playoffs, the number of games in each round of the playoffs and the order of home and away, whether the top four have the qualification to select opponents, and the short-term exchange player system in the playoffs. Besides, the all-star game is mainly in the reform of the holding time of the game, the setting of the game, and the invitation of college players to participate in. The main problems in the current CBA competition are there still exists a certain gap between the league running and the demand for people's satisfaction, and the support is not enough for the demand for the improvement of the national team performance proposed by the construction of a sports power. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the political position to adhere to the original founding aspiration of the league, uphold the concept of people first to people's satisfaction, based on problem-oriented to solve the problem of league development, expand the international vision to change the learning mode, and start with the reality to creat the competiton system with Chinese characteristics, etc.
