Abstract: Based on the Cite Space software, the study analyzes the research frontiers and hotspots in the 688 sports tourism research papers collected in the core collection of Web of Science from 1991 to 2017.The conclusions show that the connotation of sports tourism is getting gradually focused, while scope of the research is constantly expanding.Tourism of large sports events is one of the hotspots of research, showing the trends of pre-positioned research time and more abundant research content.Participatory sports tourism research is gradually warming, involving more and more types of sports.The cross interaction between sports tourism and other disciplines is frequent, and the research system is gradually formed.
