Abstract: Based on the analysis of the three stages of China's traditional ethnic sports reform and development in the past 40 years, the paper first summarizes the achievements, including the establishment of a comprehensive system for the protection and development of traditional ethnic sports culture, the preservation and development of some traditional ethnic sports, the building of influential competition brands of traditional ethnic sports culture and the successful entry of traditional ethnic sports culture into the campus, and then predicts the development path of Chinese traditional sports culture in the new era:that is, to strengthen the recognition and confidence of Chinese traditional sports culture in order to boost the realization of the strategic goal of "sports power" in China; to enhance the combination of sports and medicine in the field of the traditional sports culture in order to promote the "healthy China" strategy, to push the "scene" and "life" inheritance of the excellent traditional ethnic sports culture so as to fulfill the aspiration of a better life for the general public, and to urge the development of cultural and creative industries in traditional ethnic sports so as to help implement the strategy of rural prosperity and poverty alleviation.
