Abstract:
Literature review and expert interview have been used to analyzed the "President Forum" (2016) of NASSH. The results find that the sport history in north America, west Europe and Australia are now facing with challenges, which could be ascribed to the unreasonable academic assessment indicators as well as the short-sighted and utilitarian higher education system. Therefore, a variety of suggestions are put forward, which include adjusting research topics and methods, acquiring academic resources with across disciplines, and strengthening the cultural interaction with the public. Sports historians in China should establish the academic self-confidence by improving the inter-disciplinary cooperation and the external academic exchanges. Only by this can they raise the questions and provide solutions with Chinese insights.
