Abstract:
The texts of British books about Taiji Quan, journal articles, newspapers, magazines, and websites on this subject are analyzed, trying to invistigate the history of Taiji Quan in the UK, its spread and change as well as the dynamic factors of its diffusion and transformation, which holds that Taiji Quan in UK underwent three stages:the stage enlightenened by "Taoist culture", the stage dominated by "Yang's Taiji Quan", and the stage of "multiple schools" competition.Its transmission was mainly influenced by the following dynamic factors:the health-related motivations, Hong Kong's communication hub, the increased publicity from the "Kungfu craze", martial arts immigrants, and the political dynamics of the "going out" strategy.
