Abstract: As a basic law in the field of sports law, the comprehensive revision of Sports Law of the People's Republic of China (referred to as Sports Law) opens a new chapter in the field of governing sports by law. At the same time, however, there are some problems to be left with the deepening of sports reform, including many normative concepts to be interpreted and technical concepts to be explained. And, it is not feasible to revise the law again in a short period of time, as it is against the legislative logic and practice. As a synthesis of dogmatics of law, legal commentary centers on the interpretation of existing laws and pays attention to their practical effects, therefore, the supporting commentaries should not be absent under the background of the new revision of Sports Law. Sorting out the important content and refining them through the commentaries of Sports Law, can bridge the theoretical and practical circles effectively. The functions of legal commentary, such as information guidance, normative interpretation and critical examination, can clear up the practical difficulties in the application of sports law norms, which will help to understand the thinking and value of the revision of Sports Law more accurately.
