  • In terms of joining the affairs of state and seeking the way out from the angle of national needs, the paper reviewed Wushu's historical development. It holds that the main factors driven by the nation lie in its military value and spirit education value, which could satisfy the national needs at that times. Nowadays, however, the main needs from the state on Wushu, are to act as the practical path to unite jing, qi and shen (that is, the vital essence) and to cultivate the spirit of "virility and self-reliance", and to serve the China Dream of the rejuvenation of China. The study points out that Wushu will be driven by the state action and rise once again only when the developmental strategy of Wushu is adjusted, that is, from turning the focus onto its education until Wushu can fully play its spiritual education value.
